For the 13th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. Every year, a different brilliant composer is selected to direct the masterpiece, and there are no other ensembles in Hungary than the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus who are better acquainted with this work perfect to underscore the hope of a new year.

A Miskolci Szimfonikus Zenekar Újévi koncertjei

The symphonic works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart… The composer’s music is filled with arias, even when written for instruments. Alongside famous and lesser-known opera excerpts, the OPERA Orchestra and outstanding soloists, will perform a concerto for winds as well as a symphony from Mozart’s mature period.

Das Rheingold is the introduction to the storyline, depicting the central conflict. Starting from a primeval state of peace, the opera shows how the original sin was committed, triggering a chain of events that eventually lead to complete annihilation.

Although the concept behind the productions has always been a mature one, over the years the Ring has been rejuvenated within the framework of a constant idea and reborn in the details. “Loved to the gallows” could be an alternative title of Umberto Giordano’s opera, which serves up a grand historical tableau, a love that even defies death, and, last but not least, three brilliant leading roles.
