The MiraTone Festival and Academy, founded by violinist Miranda Liu, is filling Budapest with music for the eighth time this year. Over the years, the event has become a defining gathering place in the European classical music scene, where internationally renowned artists from around the world inspire one another and the audience.

This concert is not only a celebration of Polish music but also a journey that demonstrates the many ways in which the same instrument can sound—sometimes whispering, sometimes narrating, and sometimes with almost orchestral power.

Krzysztof Książek, a Polish pianist and multiple competition winner, has gained extraordinary popularity not only in his home country but also abroad, above all as an outstanding interpreter of Fryderyk Chopin’s piano music. After many years, Krzysztof Książek now returns to Hungarian audiences with a solo concert.

His program focuses on Chopin’s late creative period, in which both character pieces and large-scale works reflect the composer’s exceptionally refined musical language. The lyrical contemplation of the Nocturne in F-sharp minor (Op. 48, No. 2) is followed by the trio of mazurkas from Op. 63, which blend the tradition of Polish folk dance with a personal touch and a unique harmonic richness. The Ballade in F minor (Op. 52), Chopin’s last and most complex ballade, is one of the outstanding works of Romantic piano literature.  The second half of the concert features Rafał Augustyn’s Paganini Variations, which, while rooted in the virtuoso tradition, offer a reflection from a contemporary perspective.
