The MiraTone Festival and Academy, founded by violinist Miranda Liu, is filling Budapest with music for the eighth time this year. Over the years, the event has become a defining gathering in the European classical music scene, where internationally acclaimed artists from around the world inspire one another and the audience.
Continuing the tradition of previous years, the MiraTone Festival will once again open its doors with the music of Beethoven. On this special evening, not only will we gain insight into Beethoven’s three creative periods, but the audience will also be able to take part in a unique musical journey through time. The concert program was inspired by an event that took place nearly 180 years ago: in 1847, the sixteen-year-old József Joachim gave a Beethoven concert in London at the invitation of the famous Beethoven Quartet Society. Even then, the young Hungarian violinist was considered one of Europe’s greatest promises, and he soon became one of the most distinguished musicians of his time. The V4 String Quartet now evokes this historic concert, breathing new life into its original program. This music embodies struggle, hope, pain, and solace all at once.
This evening will mark a fitting and solemn opening to the 8th MiraTone Festival—an encounter with Beethoven, one of the greatest masters of chamber music.
