John Coltrane, who was born a hundred years ago, recorded a landmark album in 1963 with the singer Johnny Hartman.
It was to be Coltrane’s only recording with a vocalist. In the autumn of 2026, one of the most celebrated and influential saxophonists of our time, Branford Marsalis, will release a joint album with his quartet and the exceptionally versatile and charismatic jazz diva, Dianne Reeves, and embark on a world tour to pay tribute in their own way to this milestone in jazz history. As part of the tour, they will perform at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, where both artists will be appearing for the fifth time. Branford Marsalis last performed – to great acclaim – with his quartet and Hungarian musician friends at Müpa Budapest when he presented a work he had been commissioned by the venue to compose especially for the occasion. Dianne Reeves has previously captivated audiences as the special guest of Ferenc Snétberger, the Artist of the Season.
