Since it was formed in 2004, the ensemble, led by Erkel Ferenc Prize-winning pianist and composer János “Yancha” Nagy, has enjoyed great success at festivals both in Hungary and abroad. Its members are well-respected figures on the Hungarian jazz and contemporary music scene. The latest fruit from the workshop of János Nagy and his fellow composers — Edina “Mókus” Szirtes, Luca Kézdy, Eszter Pozsár, Béla Szerényi Jr. and Ábel Márton Nagy — has grown from Hungarian folk music roots, the legacy of Bartók and the freedom of improvisational jazz. These wonderful compositions reveal the rich diversity of contemporary Hungarian music in an audience-friendly form that transcends genre boundaries.
