Alongside Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and selected movements from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet suites as chosen by the exceptionally talented young conductor, the concert features perhaps Béla Bartók’s most popular concerto, the Piano Concerto No. 3. The soloist is the charismatic Russian-American pianist Kirill Gerstein, who enjoys a particularly warm relationship with Budapest audiences and has strong Hungarian ties as a former pupil of Ferenc Rados.
