Introduction
Hungarian Virtuosi Orchestra was founded by violinist and artistic director Miklós Szenthelyi with outstanding young musicians from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in 1988.
This string orchestra has built a vast repertoire with a special emphasis on romantic compositions. They have toured the United States, Canada, Japan, India, South Korea, South America, and almost every country in Europe. During the past decades the Virtuosi gave more than 500 concerts abroad in the span of over 50 tours.
In the course of its career, the orchestra has worked with many excellent vocalsists, instrumentalists and conductors. For many years the ensemble performed with Jean-Pierre Rampal, the world-known flutist, with whom they recoreded Mozarts’s Fluge Concertos uncer the American PROdigital label.
In 2008, the musicians were invited for the Mumbai Hungarian Cultural Festival in India, where their performances were the highlights of the series. Their recordings have been released ba the PROdigital, Summerfest and Romeo labels in the US, the Hungarian company Hungaroton and Gloria CD Publishing. A double album of the music of Gioachino Rossini was released by the International Naxos Company.
Thanks to numerous performances in some of the most elegant concert venues, the Virtuosi comprise the most well-known ensemble in Hungary. They have performed in the Hungarian Parliament, the Palace of Arts, Matthias Church, and the Hilton Dominican Courtyard.
